Mott Hall Harlem High School is in Northern Manhattan, Harlem NYC serving grades 9-12 and SE. With two new school leaders and passionate teaching staff, four-year acceptance has increased to over 60% and 89% of seniors graduated last year. Mott Hall Harlem is an enriching and safe school community offering a culturally responsive curriculum, Advanced Placement courses, college and career guidance, trauma-informed advisory, computer science for all, and a robust selection of clubs, sports teams, dance, and activities. Students, families, and teachers surveyed share that the school has a genuine culture of belonging.

Mott Hall has a state-of-the-art computer science lab and new dance studio where students are instructed by Harlem School of the Arts. We offer an Urban Scholars Program and have a robust mixed media and studio art program. 

Mott Hall offers PSAL sports teams in basketball, volleyball, and golf. They have a gay and straight alliance (GSA) and our extra-curricular clubs include student council, debate, Latin rhythms, crafts, amine, tech, poetry, literature, soccer, basketball, and more!

Mott Hall High School participates in the Computer Science for All initiative (CS4All). According to the Department of Education, "Computer Science for All (CS4All) will ensure all NYC public school students learn computer science, with an emphasis on female, black, and Latino students. Through our work, students will be better prepared to utilize computer science during their K-12 experience and after graduation."

In our classrooms, students will be

  • Working together to solve problems
  • Writing code and adapting existing code to their own projects
  • Working with teachers and peers to troubleshoot code
  • Building physical prototypes as part of the design process
  • Participating in unplugged activities (that do not use technology) to introduce them to CS fundamentals
 

At Mott Hall High School, we strive to ensure that every student will have real skills, a strong plan, and a head start on post-secondary pathways by graduation. By participating in the CS4All initiative, every Mott Hall High School student will take at least one Computer Science class to ensure they are equipped with the 21st century skills needed to be successful after high school.

As of 2024, Mott Hall High School was also selected to be in the Future Ready Program, specifically for Cyber Security. integrates the best of college and career preparation to successfully launch students into strong careers in high-wage, high-demand sectors. Participating schools will receive support and funding to develop labor market-aligned career-connected pathways to help students develop financial literacy, participate in career-connected coursework, work experiences, early college credit and/or an industry valued credential, and receive personalized career advising to prepare for rewarding careers.

FutureReadyNYC is grounded in five evidence-based core components designed for career exploration, preparation and success in high-growth, in-demand sectors. FRNYC students enroll in an FRNYC sequence that will include all five FRNYC core components: Career- Connected Instruction, Early College Credits & Credentials of Value, Work-Based Learning, Personalized Advising, and Financial Literacy.
